My Dress

Here's my dress.  It is ivory, not pink.  It was one of the first dresses that caught my eye, and it kept catching my eye for 6 months and through dozens of other dresses.  I knew I wanted something in silk, not poufy, and strapless (straps always fall off my slopy shoulders).

I ended up finding one on ebay close to my size and ivory, being sold by a woman in Texas that wore it only for a few hours.  It's perfect, and I got it for significantly less than retail.  It has a corset back, so the only alterations needed will probably be the length, because I'm short even with heels.  I'm working on losing a few inches and toning myself up (need to anyway), so then the back will be closer together.  I bought it before we changed to Hawaii, but it will work perfectly there as well.

I may remove the train on the dress, like knottie irie_bride did.  Maybe have it just barely sweep the ground.  Or I might leave it as it is, who knows.  There's a one point bustle already installed, but I'm not sure if I like it terribly.

Shoesies

I love my shoes!  I think I got more excited about them than my dress!

I went with my MOH to try on really expensive dresses (I'd already bought mine), and we stopped in at Neiman Marcus to look around.  Looking at shoes, I totally fell in love with these, but wasn't sure about spending so much on them.  I thought about it for a week, couldn't get them out of my head.  So I decided that since I saved so much on the dress, I'd still be under budget on my attire even with the shoes.  The SA I talked to was able to locate a pair in a size that fit me, and they were mine!

Bridesmaid Dresses

I want my BM's to have dresses they can wear again.  I know, everyone says that, and the dresses never actually end up being THAT wearable outside of the wedding.  But I can't see myself making them buy one time use dresses on top of the travel expenses just to get the wedding.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to have them wear JCrew dresses, either embossed cotton beach dresses or cotton cady dresses.  I had originally thought of going with dupioni silk to match my dress, but it's expensive and not something that most of my girls would wear again; we're not cocktail party people.  The cotton dresses will be conceivably re-wearable, light and breathable, and inexpensive.  There's almost always a sale going on at JCrew, or they can be found easily on ebay.

Since all of the girls have different complexions, hair colors, and body types, I'm going to have them pick the knee length style that fits them best in either white or shades of blue.  I may do yellow also, I haven't decided how yellow dresses will look with yellow plumeria leis, or how if the combo of blue and yellow will be too intense looking.

The Men

Scott will be deciding what he wants his guys to wear.  I'm just going to show him some pics and let him take it from there.  Although, realistically, I'll probably be the one that makes the final cut; he'll just say he likes this or that, can you find it for me??  That works, I guess.

He's expressed interest in doing casual linen or khaki pants and a loose button up shirt.  I doubt he's going to go for a suit or tux on the beach.
